Your own Standard Formats

Cyrk Text Converter is particularly well suited for converting text to standard formats predetermined by yourself, while it is less suited for exact conversion. Generally, the formatting settings in Cyrk Text Converter is used instead of the formatting settings of the source document. Read more about it on this page.

Paragraphs and Paragraph Styles

Paragraphs in rtf and html texts can be of different kinds, fx. regular text, headings of different levels, quotations and list items. Each kind is called a paragraph style.

Each paragraph style is characterised by a text formatting. For instance, headings of level 2 can be formatted by:

  • Helvetica
  • 14 Point
  • Bold
  • Line Spacing: 14 points
  • Spacing Before Paragraph: 20 Points

When Cyrk Text Converter converts paragraphs, it disregards the character style of the source document and uses the preference settings of Cyrk Text Converter. These settings are of course fully editable. For instance, a headings of level 2 might be converted to text with the following properties:

  • Arial
  • 16 Point
  • Underline
  • Line Spacing: 16 points
  • Spacing Before Paragraph: 10 Points.

Character Styles

Characters in rtf or html texts can be formatted with bold, italic, underline, font and – in html texts – emphasis (<em>), strong emphasis (<strong>) and computer code (<code>). Usually, Cyrk Text Converter converts bold to bold, italic to italic and so on, but sometimes it does something else. For instance:

  • If the character style is the same as the paragraph style, it is not used. For instance, if the paragraph style of headings of level 2 in the source document includes bold, this information is not used. Instead, the settings in Cyrk Text Converter for headings of level 2 are used.
  • You can choose to have certain character styles converted in a special way. For instance, bold can be converted to strong emphasis when converting to html.
